Job Description
Catering Jobs is urgently seeking a proactive and technically skilled IT Helpdesk professional to join a dynamic client in the heart of Nottingham (NG1). This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for an immediate start in a fast-paced environment where you will be the first point of contact for all internal technology issues. Our client is a well-established organisation with a significant presence in the region, and they require reliable support to ensure their operational systems run smoothly. This role is perfect for a problem-solver who thrives on providing excellent customer service and has a solid foundation in IT support principles.
By applying through Catering Jobs, you gain access to our extensive network of local employers and benefit from our streamlined recruitment process. We specialise in connecting talented individuals with rewarding opportunities, whether you're seeking temporary work, a foot in the door for a permanent position, or flexible shifts to fit your lifestyle. Much like how we successfully staff major events at Wembley Stadium or support businesses looking for a skilled Chef Hire, we apply the same diligence and local market knowledge to our IT and technical recruitment. This role offers not just a job, but a potential career pathway with a respected Nottingham employer.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for all IT-related queries and issues via phone, email, and in-person, providing first-line technical support to staff across the Nottingham site.
- Log, prioritise, and manage incidents and service requests using the company's ticketing system, ensuring accurate documentation and timely resolution in line with SLAs.
- Troubleshoot a wide range of hardware and software issues, including desktop PCs, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and standard business applications (e.g., Microsoft 365, Windows 10/11).
- Perform basic user account administration, including password resets, account unlocks, and access provisioning within Active Directory and other core systems.
- Assist with the setup, configuration, and deployment of new equipment for staff, and contribute to the maintenance of the IT asset register. Escalate complex issues to second-line support or external suppliers as necessary.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in a similar IT Helpdesk or 1st Line Support role, with a strong understanding of common IT issues and their resolutions.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users in a clear and patient manner.
- Solid practical knowledge of Microsoft Windows environments, Microsoft 365, and basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- A proactive, can-do attitude with excellent problem-solving skills. The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team is essential. Any relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Fundamentals) would be advantageous.
Salary & Benefits
We believe in offering a competitive pay rate that reflects your skills, experience, and the value you bring to the role. The exact remuneration will be discussed upon application and is designed to be attractive within the Nottingham market for IT support positions. This is a temporary role with a strong potential to become a permanent position for the right candidate, offering job security and career progression.
In addition to a competitive salary, working through Catering Jobs comes with significant benefits. You'll benefit from our weekly pay structure, ensuring you are paid promptly and reliably for the work you do. We handle all the administrative overhead, allowing you to focus on your role. Furthermore, by joining our talent pool, you gain exclusive access to a wide range of other opportunities across Nottingham and beyond, from Warehouse Jobs to specialised roles like a Logistics Coordinator in Edinburgh (EH12). We are committed to your development and can often provide access to training to enhance your skills.
