Core Responsibilities & Daily Duties
1Kitchen & Servery Hygiene
- Thorough washing, sanitising, and drying of all pots, pans, utensils, and cooking equipment.
- Cleaning and wiping down all kitchen surfaces, counters, and the servery area to meet strict Food Safety Standards.
- Emptying bins, managing waste, and ensuring recycling procedures are followed.
2Stock & Logistics Support
- Assisting with the safe unloading of deliveries and storing food and supplies in appropriate locations.
- Maintaining clean and organised storage areas, dry stores, and cold rooms.
- Basic food preparation support under the guidance of the Commis Chef or Head Chef, such as vegetable peeling.
3Dining Area & Deep Cleaning
- Cleaning the dining hall after lunch service, including wiping tables, sweeping, and mopping floors.
- Operating industrial dishwashers and ensuring clean crockery is readily available for service.
- Weekly deep cleaning tasks, including descaling, degreasing, and cleaning inside appliances.
4Health & Safety Compliance
- Adhering to all COSHH regulations when using cleaning chemicals.
- Maintaining a safe, clutter-free working environment to prevent slips, trips, and falls.
- Wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
Essential Skills & Person Specification
To be successful in this School Kitchen Porter role, you will need:
