Have questions about applying for Event Coordinator roles through Catering Jobs in Blackpool? Find quick answers below. If you need more specific advice, our expert talent solutions team is always ready to help.
An Event Coordinator in Blackpool is responsible for the end-to-end management of events. This includes client consultation, venue sourcing, vendor coordination (caterers, AV, decor), budget management, on-site logistics, and post-event evaluation. Given Blackpool's status as a major tourist and conference destination, coordinators often work on diverse events like corporate meetings at the Winter Gardens, weddings at coastal hotels, and large-scale festivals, requiring strong local knowledge and adaptability.
Absolutely. While a relevant degree or certification (like CMP) is beneficial, most employers, and Catering Jobs, prioritise proven practical experience, transferable skills, and attitude. If you have experience in project management, customer service (e.g., in hospitality), administration, or even volunteer event organising, you likely possess the core skills. Highlight your organisational abilities, communication, problem-solving, and any relevant experience in your CV. We assess candidates on their overall potential.
Event coordination is not a standard 9-5 role. Hours are dictated by the event schedule. You must be prepared for evening work during client meetings and site visits, and weekend work is almost a certainty as most large events (weddings, festivals, conferences) take place on weekends. A typical week might involve office-based planning Monday-Friday, with on-site coordination on Saturday and Sunday. The role offers flexibility in return, with time off often given in lieu during quieter weekdays. We are transparent about shift patterns from the outset.
Very quickly. For urgent roles like this Event Coordinator position in Blackpool FY1 marked"Immediate Start", our process is designed for speed. Once you apply, our team aims to review your CV within 24 hours on a working day. If you're a good match, we'll call you for a brief screening interview. Successful candidates can be submitted to the client for interview within 48 hours. From application to first day on site can be as little as one week, depending on client interview availability. For other urgent needs, such as van driver jobs, the timeline can be even faster.
Event coordination is a fantastic springboard into a thriving career. With experience, you can progress to roles such as Senior Event Coordinator, Event Manager, Account Manager for event agencies, or Venue Manager. Some coordinators specialise in areas like wedding planning, corporate events, or festival production. The skills are also highly transferable to broader project management, marketing, and HR and recruitment roles. Catering Jobs supports your growth by offering access to higher-level positions as you gain experience.
