Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties

As an HGV Driver in Slough, you will be an essential link in the supply chain for the catering and events industry. Your role will involve:

• Safely operating Class 2 (rigid) or Class 1 (articulated) vehicles to transport catering equipment, food supplies, and event materials from Slough-based depots to various client sites.
• Conducting pre-use vehicle checks (walk-around checks) and reporting any defects or maintenance requirements in line with company and DVSA standards.
• Planning efficient delivery routes using digital and traditional methods, ensuring timely arrivals and adherence to strict delivery windows, particularly for live events.
• Completing all necessary digital and paper-based documentation, including delivery notes, PODs (Proof of Delivery), and tachograph records with full accuracy.
• Assisting with the loading and unloading of vehicles using appropriate manual handling techniques or equipment like pump trucks, often working alongside warehouse teams.
• Maintaining excellent communication with the transport office, clients, and site contacts, providing updates on progress and any issues encountered.
• Upholding the highest standards of vehicle cleanliness and presentation, both internally and externally, representing the client’s professional brand.
• Adhering strictly to all Road Transport Directive (RTD) and Drivers' Hours regulations, ensuring full legal compliance at all times.

Essential Requirements & Qualifications

To be successful in this HGV Driver role, you must meet the following criteria:

• A valid, clean UK Category C (Class 2) or C+E (Class 1) driving licence is mandatory. Drivers with a C+E licence will have access to a wider range of assignments.
• A current, valid Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) card.
• A solid, verifiable driving experience with HGVs, with references from previous employers or agencies.
• Excellent knowledge of UK road networks, particularly around the M4, M25, M40 corridors and within the Thames Valley region.
• A strong commitment to health and safety, with a demonstrable understanding of safe loading practices and vehicle safety protocols.
• Professional demeanour, reliability, and a strong customer service focus, as you will be the face of the company to clients.
• Digital literacy for using handheld devices for PODs and basic navigation apps.
