Job Description: Care Assistant in Romford RM1

As a Care Assistant placed through Catering Jobs in Romford RM1, you will provide essential, person-centred support to elderly and vulnerable adults within residential care homes and through community-based domiciliary care services. This is a hands-on role where compassion, patience, and reliability are paramount. Our clients range from large national care providers to smaller, family-run homes, all committed to delivering exceptional standards of care within the Romford, Havering, and wider Essex region.

Why apply through Catering Jobs? We specialise in the rapid placement of care home staff in London WC2 and across Essex, acting as the vital link between dedicated professionals and care providers in urgent need. We understand the local market, the specific challenges of care work, and we fight to secure you the best possible terms. If you're also exploring roles like a Restaurant Assistant in Brighton BN1, our hospitality division can help, but this specific opportunity is within the rewarding care sector.

  • Personal Care: Assisting residents with washing, dressing, toileting, and oral hygiene, always promoting dignity and independence.

  • Nutritional Support: Preparing and serving meals and drinks, assisting with feeding where necessary, and monitoring dietary intake and hydration.
  • Social & Emotional Support: Providing companionship, engaging residents in social activities, and offering emotional support to alleviate feelings of loneliness or anxiety.
  • Medication Assistance: Promptly and accurately prompting clients to take their prescribed medication (subject to training and competency assessment).
  • Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate and timely records of care provided, observations, and any changes in a client's condition, reporting concerns to senior staff.
  • Domestic Tasks: Light domestic duties related to the client's immediate environment, such as bed making, tidying, and laundry.

  • A genuine passion for care and a compassionate, patient, and respectful attitude.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with residents, families, and colleagues.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic. Many of our roles require early starts, late finishes, or weekend work.
  • The physical ability to perform manual handling tasks (full training provided).
  • A willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check (which we can process for you).
  • Previous experience in a care setting is highly desirable but not always essential for those with the right attitude; full training is often provided.
