Job Description

We are seeking compassionate, dedicated, and professional Care Home Staff to join a highly regarded residential care home in the heart of London WC2. This role is pivotal in providing high-quality, person-centred care to elderly residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social well-being is supported every day. The employer is a well-established provider known for its excellent standards and supportive team environment, making it an ideal place for Care Assistants who are passionate about making a real difference. This is a fantastic opportunity for both experienced carers and those looking to build a meaningful career in the health and social care sector.

By applying through Catering Jobs, you gain direct access to this and many other care home jobs in London. We specialise in matching the right candidate with the right employer quickly and efficiently. Our deep understanding of the local London care market, from Covent Garden to Holborn, means we can find roles that suit your skills, availability, and career aspirations. Whether you're looking for an immediate start, regular flexible shifts, or a permanent position, registering with us opens the door to a network of trusted employers. Just as we successfully place staff for Catering & Hospitality Jobs at Wembley Stadium, we apply the same diligent matching process to the care sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing direct personal care to residents, including assistance with washing, dressing, toileting, and mobilising, always respecting dignity and independence.
  • Supporting residents with nutritional and hydration needs, which may include preparing light snacks, assisting with meals, and accurately recording food and fluid intake.
  • Building positive relationships with residents through meaningful conversation, recreational activities, and emotional support, contributing to their overall well-being and social engagement.
  • Accurately maintaining care records and charts in line with company policy and CQC standards, reporting any observations or concerns about a resident's health to the senior nurse in charge promptly.
  • Ensuring the care environment is kept clean, tidy, and safe, adhering to all health & safety, infection control, and moving & handling procedures at all times.

What We're Looking For

  • A genuine passion for caring for others and a compassionate, patient, and respectful attitude. Previous experience as a Care Assistant, Support Worker, or in a similar role is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and build trust with residents and their families.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic. The role requires a commitment to providing consistent, high-quality care, often during early, late, or weekend shifts.
  • A willingness to undergo a standard DBS check (which we can facilitate) and provide relevant references. Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care) are advantageous but not always essential for the right candidate.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does 'Immediate Start' mean for Care Home Staff jobs?

'Immediate Start' means the employer needs staff to begin work as soon as possible, often within a few days. Once you successfully register with Catering Jobs and complete any necessary checks (like a DBS), we can place you into these urgent roles quickly. This is perfect for job seekers who need work right away, similar to the process for our Urgent Short Term Catering Jobs in PL15.

Do I need experience to apply for Care Home Staff roles in London WC2?

While experience is highly valued and often leads to higher pay rates, many of our clients are also willing to consider candidates with a genuine passion for care and the right attitude. We offer roles suitable for both experienced Care Assistants and those new to the sector looking for entry-level opportunities. Your dedication and interpersonal skills are key.

What are the typical shift patterns for Care Home jobs?

Care homes operate 24/7, so shift patterns vary and can include early mornings (7am-3pm), late afternoons (1pm-9pm), long days, and night shifts (9pm-7am). Many roles also include weekend work. We discuss your availability during registration to match you with shifts that suit your life, offering true flexible working.

How does the pay work when I'm placed through Catering Jobs?

As a temporary worker placed by our agency, you will be paid weekly by Catering Jobs. Your pay rate will be agreed upon before you start and is based on your experience, the specific role, and the shift. We handle all payroll, tax, and National Insurance deductions, so you receive a clear payslip each week. It's a hassle-free process.

Can a temporary Care Home job lead to a permanent position?

Absolutely. Many of our temporary placements are 'temp-to-perm', meaning if both you and the employer are happy after an initial period, there is often the opportunity to move onto a permanent contract directly with the care home. This is a fantastic way to trial a workplace and secure a long-term career opportunity.

What support does Catering Jobs provide during my assignment?

You are never on your own. Your dedicated consultant is your point of contact for any questions, concerns, or feedback. We conduct regular check-ins to ensure you're happy and supported in your role. We also provide guidance on workplace conduct and can assist with career advice, much like the comprehensive support outlined in our Our Services page.
